When Are The 2021 Oscars?
The 93rd Academy Awards Live, which is reportedly being held “in person” at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, premiere Sunday, April 25. We have a list of all the nominations, so you can start making your predictions.
US: The Oscars start at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET on Sunday, April 25.
UK: The Oscars start at 1 a.m. GMT on Monday, April 26.
Australia: The Oscars start at 10 a.m. AEST on Monday, April 26.
Will There Be A Red Carpet?
The award show will take place in person this year because no Zoom appearances are allowed, but it’s unlikely that we will be able to expect the traditional red carpet treatment. However, based on the Grammy’s red carpet, we believe we’ll see some celebrities (some wearing masks) stopping for pictures.
According to last year’s Academy Awards Live coverage, it’s most likely we’ll be able to Watch Oscars Live Stream red carpet on the ABC site or app from 5:30 p.m. ET, or directly on the Academy’s official Twitter account from 6:30 p.m. ET. We are also crossing our fingers that E! will broadcast the pre-show and red carpet but we are still waiting for details on that front.
Who‘s Hosting?
It will be the same as last year’s ceremony, as there will be no host at the 2021 Academy Awards. Since ABC’s entertainment president Karey Burke previously indicated that the no-host model has been successful in the past, we don’t think we are necessarily surprised.
“Together with the Academy, we have decided there will be no traditional host, repeating for us what worked last year,” she said in 2020, according to Deadline. “[It will have] huge entertainment values, big musical numbers, comedy, and star power.”
Who‘s Nominated?
Last week, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas read through all of the categories and their respective 2021 Oscar Nominations live from London.
Mank currently leads the pack, with a total of 10 nods. The movie is followed by a six-way tie between The Father, Judas, and the Black Messiah, Minari, Nomadland, Sound of Metal, and The Trial of the Chicago 7, with six nominations each.
